MTBE adsorption on surface modified adsorbent Kaolin-KOH – A study on Kinetic equilibrium and surface morphology

<p>The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness low-cost adsorbents for removal MTBE by employing natural kaolin clay with surface modification KOH. The feasibility examination High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) in aqueous solution investigated. To get rid impurities, goes through a beneficiated process. Then, thermal procedure carried out at 990°C prepare adsorbent. XRD, SEM, and FTIR were used characterize geochemical characteristics Basic operation parameters evaluated batch experiment, including beginning concentrations, pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage. For three different sized columns that 12cm, 8cm, 4cm, respectively, percentage efficiency recorded as 97.79%, 99.08%, 98.13%. This study demonstrated adsorbent's time retention period are crucial elimination MTBE, Thomas model Thomson R2 values 97.81, 99.21, 98.36.</p>
